Warrior Victory
Redemption and Victory can best describe the CW Warriors reaction after beating Berkeley College by one point on the night of March 25th. For the last 5 months Coach Brian Sondey and Coach Tony Pavin took time out of their busy schedule to build the team’s strength and pride. Last year’s upset with 0 wins and 12 losses really left a mark of unfinished business among many of the returning players. Not only did the team surprise many but no one gave up. Not our fans, not the team, and not the coaches. No matter if it’s a pickup basketball game, an H.S championship game, an NCAA division game, or just a White Plains Men League, at the end of the day, a win is a win. Special thanks to JoAnn Sondey who fought countless times to get the team a gym where we can practice. Special thanks to Karen Smith, for giving the College of Westchester the opportunity to have a team. Last but not least, special thanks to Mary Bennett, for the many team photos, and capturing all the smiles of teammates, coaches and fans.

Get ready for CW Idol and The Warriors!
The Student Government Association will be hosting CW Idol on March 31st at 3pm in the student center. All students, faculty/staff and guest are welcome to participate. We are not limiting anyone’s performance. Showcasing your talent is what will entertain the crowd and having fun should be everyone’s main goal. Last year’s 0-12 season was embarrassing; redemption was our main goal and we have reached it. The CW Warriors finished the season 8-4. Tonight we will go head to head against Porter House, which finished the season 11-1. It’s an elimination game tonight and we are seeking a victory!

TAP Trip a Success!
The TAP trip to Albany was a success. After meeting with different assembly men and woman of New York, I am confident that they will do all they can to make sure that TAP is not affected by this new state budget. Prior to meeting with Legislators on March 2nd, 2010 I had the opportunity to listen to many students stories of how TAP has benefited them. TAP has paved the way for young Adults like me to be successful and a scholar. Many asked why the Government would want to destroy something that is positive to college students and individuals who actually want to go back to school. We understand that our State has an immense deficit that require cuts and budget renewals, however it makes no sense to alter a grant that provides tuition assistance, and motivation to someone that wants to succeed.

TAP Pitch
Governor Patterson needs to think twice about cutting TAP!
TAP is one of the main bases of assisting thousands of college students with their college tuition. At CW, faculty and staff work day by day with students to assure that they are on the right career path. Having an education is your best bet in succeeding in life. Not only will reducing TAP generate an immense downfall in student enrollment for low income families, but it will also strip any possibility of our younger generation to have the full financial benefits that we are now receiving. CW has allowed me to work and perform to my fullest potential. Hard work and dedication was not the only factor of getting me to this stage; tuition assistance played a key part.
